The creation of Moonbean Publishing, LLC, is the realization of a long-held dream. Karel has enjoyed more than 25 years as an award-winning journalist, columnist, poet and editor.
 
She has been honored to tell others' stories throughout her career and has been blessed to pursue a life of writing, editing and coaching, all of which she is passionate about.
 
She has lived in Nevada since 1997, though she has visited the state her entire life. She is the single mother of amazing daughters, Emily and Natalie. They reside in Dayton.12 miles from the Silver State's beautiful Capital city.

"Carson City Chamber of Commerce: 60 Years of History," a coffee table book launched with a Governor's book signing in February 2008 - author and editor.
"Irish Flame's Biker & Travel Guide to Nevada," released August 2009 - co-author, editor and publisher.
Former editor of Sierra Nevada Boomers, a magazine published for the Baby Boomer generation by Sierra Nevada Media Group.

Firefighter for California Department of Forestry (many moons ago!)
Continues to freelance for The Nevada Appeal, the state's Capital paper and longest operating business and Sierra Nevada Media.
 
Enjoys presenting writing and literature programs for elementary school children.
